Jena Carpenter - Circus Arts Performer

Jena started the Topanga Canyon Aerial Arts Workshop in February 2004 as a training space for herself, and others who want to learn and dedicate themselves to the skills of circus arts. In October of 2006 she moved down to the west valley where she was able to expand her teaching space and be located more conveniently between the 101 and 405 freeways to be accessible to more students from all areas of greater Los Angeles. She offers group classes on the weekends, and private or semi-private sessions during the week! She has seven years of experience teaching circus arts: at AcroSports San Francisco, Circus Smirkus Summer Camp in Vermont, Dream Circus, Hollywood, and the Jumbo Shrimp Circus Academy. See her resume for more information on her education and skills!

Jena's students come from all age groups and walks of life. Some want to be professional circus performers and are working towards that goal. Others simply want a fun, creative way to work out and to gain strength and flexibility. Group tissu class is on Sundays from 9:30 to 11:30 am and are open to all levels. Classes cost $35 for a drop in, or $30 a class when you order a class card or pay by the month. Private sessions are available on Monday through Friday in the mornings before noon, or the evenings after 6 pm. Call or email with any more questions, or to schedule sessions

Choreography and act creation is also available for more advanced students. For more information and scheduling inquiries please call me at:

Group Tissu, or Aerial Silks classes focus on climbing and building endurance, learning tricks, transitions, and beginning to combine them into short combinations. ÝThere will be regularly scheduled student performances to create opportunities for each student to shine in their own unique way.

Private instruction is a good way to build up the foundation of basic moves, and a comfort level of being up high, upside-down, wrapped up, and learning to do falls and drops or to be more intensively focused, for those who want to become performers.

I also offer special sessions for choreography and act creation for those students who are ready to start performing!
